I believe that each person has the potential to achieve their dreams and to create the life and relationships that they desire. In therapy I like to drawn upon peoples strengths while challenging them to look at the roles that they play and the meaning they give to the experiences that they have had. Through this process people often learn about themselves and why they react to situations the way that they do. I believe that once someone is aware of their behaviors and cognitions that they will have the ability to change them.
Why choose a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT)?
Marriage and Family Therapists are the only clinicians who are specifically trained to work with couples and families in addition to individuals. Other counselors may or may not have the training to work with both individuals and couples or families and could fail to recognize when a family therapy modality would be best. When you choose a therapist trained as a MFT you’re getting a therapist that values the relationships and the interconnections that exist in your life.
